Must confess that I've worked in ross-on-wye over 10yrs and never been in this establishment. I had heard some great coments about this place so I booked our works party here. Wow what a fantastic evening we had. The food was superb and you could tell it was all home-made. The vegetables were all fresh. The Weston cross chicken was to die for. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. This pub is a family pub in every sense of the word. The husband and wife run the bar and restaurant and one of their daughters is the chef. They have another daughter who works on the weekends and their granddaughter waits on tables. She served us when we visited. What a gem of a girl. So attentive she made sure we were all happy and kept our glasses topped up. I had such a wonderful evening I am definetly going to return. well done landlord/landlady on such a traditional well run family hostilerie

Called in when passing after returning from a wet day at the ryder cup in wales. What a gem of a pub, the staff were most welcoming and could not do enough to help us. There was an excellent choice of food available, somthing to suit everyone in our party. And belive me some of us are fussy eaters. I chose the wye valley pie from the specials board and it was outstanding. In fact i asked for the recipie it was that good. A few of the party has steaks and grills and they looked beautiful. We will definately be returning here again for some home cooked food. The beers and wines were well kept and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this pub if you are in the area.

Went for Sunday Roast 26/9/10.Unimpressed Pate adequate.Main Pre-sliced over cooked beef under thick flavourless espagnole served on a cold plate, vegetables over cooked carrots boiled cabbage, beetroot, small amount of cauliflower cheese, boiled potatoes and under-cooked roast potatoes.Yorkshire pudding masquerading as a pancake was to frightened to attempt to cut it in-case of endangering other diners with flying shrapnel.Ordered crumble for dessert and was served a bowl of fruit?and custard slop failed to find the crumble topping.Bass was good.Live and learn won't be returning.

Well kept hostilerie and very busy when we arrived at 6.30pm, the food was everything we hoped for and more. The large choice was a little overwhelming but outstanding for such a small village pub. This place is highly recomended and you should note that they also run the Moon Inn in Mordiford.
