Another busy pub in Grassington last Saturday evening so we sat at an outside table near the fish and chip shop entrance (which later proved to be an excellent choice for dinner). Having tried the Dark Horse Hetton Pale Ale in Appletreewick the night before, I opted for a pint of Tetley's Original Cask which was in very good condition.

Only place we could get a table to eat on a Saturday night. Very busy place, grassington.

Quality TT Landlord and decent food.

New layout seems to work, no longer the poor relation pub in Grassington. Food looked and listening to other customers, is good.

Visited this pub yesterday and found the new look to be quite appealing... the ale was well kept (Golden Sheep) and there were at least 4 others on offer. There was food being served and it looks like the landlord is really giving it a go.... well worth calling in... oh, and it still is the only pub in Grassington with a fruit machine !!

Pleasantly surprised at the alterations to this pub since our last visit a year ago. The bar has been moved and the decor updated. I understand that all the bedrooms have also been updated. There was a good selection of beers- I had Abbots- and the bar was much busier than I have seen it for years. There was a good friendly atmosphere and it seems that the pub is becoming very popular again.

Nice enough pub, seems to lack something that the other pubs in this village have and like the previous poster says makes it seem the poor relation.

The Black Horse seems to be the poor relation of the 3 pubs in Grassington which is a shame as I think it has a lot to offer the town. The beer was well kept with Black Sheep, Tim Taylor and Tetley's on draft.. there was also another guest beer on at the time. It has a lovely large open fire, a dart board and also has the only fruit machine in the whole of Grassington.

It has a large beer garden which should have been busier... however, for some reason the pub seems to be under used by both the locals and the holiday makers... I can't put my finger on it, however, the bar staff did appear to be a bit young and maybe it needs a proper pub landlord... you know what I mean...

The Horse does do food but I am affraid I did not sample any during my stay..it also has pretty good deals on rooms during the off season months.

We , the Lingering Malingerers walking group stayed with the new Landlord at The Black Horse Hotel for a weekends walking in the Dales over the second last weekend in October. The pub was lovely and the coal fire in the bar was especially lovely and warming to see. The rooms were clean and comfortable and everything worked, breakfast was lovely, and the general hopitality of offer was excellent, we will use the Black Horse again in the future for certain.
