please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Fitzhead Inn reopened in early 2013 after being closed for 2 or 3 years. A small one-room bar-cum-dining room with Cotleigh Tawny, Doom Bar and Thatchers Vintage on hand pump, with keg Cobra, Carling and Stowford Press, and "canned" draft Guinness. Does great food and has nice rooms across the small courtyard. I found it by accident and stayed one night in May 2013. Run by a mother and daughter partnership, it was very welcoming and seems to have enough local trade the beer to be in good condition. I wish them every success.

This was a terrible pub so I'm glad it closed, but I hope it re opens with new owners who know what to do.
Having said that though I suspect it will be converted into a private house

Also now closed, along with the Blue Ball at Triscombe and Notley Arms in Monksilver.

The food was horrendous and the owners were rude and very unpleasant. The reason I went back, I had good food & good company a couple of years ago, but soon found out it was under new ownership. Now I would never go back and would not recommend this pub to anyone else.
Unfortunately the new decor of the pub has taken away all the character and ambiance of a traditional English Inn.

pitiful pub which had been a gem for years before the present owners found out they didn't like running pubs someone may buy this place one day when the price is low enough

I'm constantly amazed that this pub manages to remain solvent. It's stuck out in the sticks and no one seems to got there much, and for good reason: it's not much good.
Far better pubs have gone out of business recently, so perhaps they are doing something I've missed, but I cannot for the life of me see what.

10 years ago this pub was soooo good that it breaks my heart to see it now. No cask ale despite it being 3 miles from two of the best breweries in Somerset. Food is average. Please someone buy it and treat it and it's customers with some respect.

Great little pub. Very warm and cosy atmosphere when the woodburners going, fantastic food - well worth the 1-2 mile drive off the main road from Taunton to Milverton! garden is all patio but great covered area if you are a smoker.

Another nice country pub with new covered patio area outside. The "miserable git" has now been replaced! Book early if you want a meal as it is only a small pub with few tables. Well kept local ales (cotleigh).

We stayed two nights at the Fitzhead Inn. Accomadation was very spacious and comfortable. Food and wine excellent. (Scollops to die for). It is a very difficult place to find off the beaten track, but well worth the effort to locate it. Terrific value for money, highly recommended.

I'm undeniably a bit biased since I used to live there many moons ago, but the Fitzhead Inn is far superior to how it was when my old man sold it back in the early 1990s (my folks still live in the village). The food is very well spoken of across the region, it is full of character inside, has a nice patio/garden outside (albeit a small one), kids are welcome, the staff are...alright the landlord's a bit of a miserable git, but once you get to know him he's a good lad. They also have rooms that can be booked, converted from what used to be the pub's skittle alley. A very nice country pub, all round.
