The George & Dragon was my final pub of the night in Lancaster. It was very quiet with only 3 other customers present. Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Lancaster Red & Greene King Scrum Down were the 3 ales on. A beer festival had been held the previous weekend. The pub is a single bar that overlooks the river. Another pub that offers discounts for CAMRA members. Could have done with a few more customers to create an atmosphere.

Not bad and a nice enough bar on my Lancaster crawl. Seems more of a local than some of the other pubs and that's no criticism more of a complement.

Called in on Tuesday evening as this pub is in the 2012 Good Beer Guide. Noticed a certificate from the local CAMRA branch to the effect that it is their most improved pub of 2011. Enjoyed a well-kept pint for 2.25 (happy hour?) and found the American barmaid friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere created by the other customers very pleasant. Some interesting historical photographs of the quayside area on the walls. I will certainly be back when next in Lancaster.

I agree with the previous comments. I went to this pub last week, for the first time in about two years, and found only one other customer, who was talking to the bar person. Neither of them made any attempt whatsoever to make me feel welcome, so I finished my half-pint and went instead to the Three Mariners. Perhaps they simply do not want customers?

Sorry - this is a hugely dull pub with cheap farmhouse furniture and a bland characterless bar. Nothing pub.

This pub appears to have been closed - what is going on here?

Just to let everybody know, my best mate Carol and her husband Noel are taking over this pub on 26th September. They are having an opening night on Friday 28th and trust me they are the best landlord and landlady in Britain. If anyone can get a pub going, they can ... I will be travelling up the M6 every weekend to see them, regardless of how much it is going to cost me in petrol. Trust me when I say this pub is going to be the best in Lancaster!! I have already rated it 10/10 'cos I know it's going to be the tops!!
