Popped in here on 21st November having driven up from Portsmouth only to find that they had no beer!

I hadnt been in here for many a year, probably at least 10. Still a typical back street east end boozer. Good Youngs Ordinary and the Winter Warmer - Do visit to see exactly how hundreds of Pubs actually were in the east end many a year ago -

A perfect pub in the heart of the Stepney wasteland. Well worth a visit.

A decent, friendly, clean pub in the drinkers waste land of Limehouse/Stepney. Wellworth heading to if in the area and a short walk from the station across Commercial road. A very pleasing Pub!

Really friendly pub. Do visit !!

Fine Youngs pub in a Georgian square ( rather like the Trinity Arms in Brixton ) close to Limehouse station.
This is indeed the pub that the Queen Vic in Eastenders was modelled on, though thankfully there were no punch-ups or anything during my visit ! Nor did anyone try to sell me a dodgy motor !
This is of course the pub where the Queen Mother pulled THAT pint way back in 1987 and it is pleasing to see that mementoes of that visit have been retained.
The public bar has been updated somewhat and I found the quieter saloon bar more to my liking. Note the old London 5's dartboard - not seen too often nowadays.
I enjoyed a reasonable pint of Ordinary at £ 2.40p early yesterday evening.
Well worth popping in if passing by.

This is another one of our favourites to drink in. My mate plays on the pub darts team with his old man. Its real nice in their on a sunday afternoon when you just wanna have a pint with the lads. Prices are pretty good too and beer is always cold. Cant say the same for the coke though. My mates always saying better drink it before it goes cold :D As most pubs toilets are a bit rank though

if it was good enough for the Queen Mother, god rest her soul it is good enough for me. A great local that is a constant entertainment on both sides of the bar. Loud and local with great ales and largers and a licencee from the old school.
|
PS: The queens head is in stepney not limehouse; stepney east station, Now limehouse, was changed several years back, I Suppose stepney harbour does'nt sound right really Does it. Bloody yuppies.

I had a beer in here once, it's well proper. Loads of Elvis impersonators came in which made it memorable.

We started our Regent's Canal pub crawl at this place. Pleasant and quiet early on a Wednesday. You can see that the backstreet pub is run by women: fine, clean and cosy with some flowers here and there. We had a good pint of Youngs Bitter before we moved on to the canal.
|
An obvious attraction here is that York Square/Flamborough Street is in a conservation area, and that York Square is the basis for Albert Square in Eastenders. The Queen's Head is the model for the Queen Vic. - and sure enough there is a bust of Victoria above the bar. It's a Young's pub, and is a good no nonsense local with three separate rooms and a solid, unpretentious atmosphere. We enjoyed our time there and the beer - Young's Bitter - was pleasant enough without being remarkable.

The Queen's can feel a bit clique-ey at first but the bar staff are friendly and the landlady is very accommodating.
The Queen's can't be described as glamourous but the beer is reasonably well-kept, the atmosphere is good and the music is varied.
For fans of royalty, the Queen Mother visited the Queens in 1987. So, it can't be that bad, if m'am gave it her royal seal of approval!
