This is my local pub and following a couple of years when it was closed has just reopened under new management. A decent pint from a rare treat a reopening country pub

Drove by the other day and this pub is well and truly closed, I think it is up for residential development.

Looks great from outside, but thats its only good point. Staffed with rude unhelpful people who will endeavour to make your stay as uncomfortable as possible both through the cleanliness of the accomodation and also through their attitude to customers. From the moment you enter the pub you will feel like you are putting staff out of their way and the best part about staying there is watching it dissapear in your rear view mirror an your way home. Absolutely rubbish.

VISTED HERE TODAY ONLY TO BE WELCOMED BY A VERY RUDE OBNOXIOUS WELSH YOUNG LADY BEHIND THE BAR!

WELL ALL I CAN SAY IS WHAT A SCENE. FOR SUCH A SIMPLE DRINKS ORDER IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO GET WHAT I WANTED. SIMPLY 3 1/2S OF LAGER AND AN ORANGE JUCE. THATS ONOLY THE BEGINNING I THEN WANTED TO ORDER SOME FOOD BY TO PAY FOR IT SEPERATELY, THIS AGAIN TOOK A VERY LONG TIME.

THE YOUNG LADY KEPT MUTTERING COMMENTS UNDER HER BREATH WHICH MADE ME AND MY FAMILY FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE BEING THERE.

THE FOOD WAS LOVELY WHEN IT CAME OUT I HAVE NO QUALMS ABOUT THAT.

AFTER WE ATE OUR MEAL WE WAITED 20 MINUTES FOR THE GIRL TO COME AND CLEAR OUR PLATE. MY HUSBAND GOT UP TO SEE WHERE SHE WAS AND SHE WAS EATING HER OWN FOOD AT A TABLE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BAR WITH HER BACK AGAINST US.

WE THEN LEFT HAVING DESSERTS BECAUSE WHEN SHE CAME AND CLEARED OUR TABLE IT WAS 1 1/2 HOURS AFTER WE ARRIVED!

WHEN WE ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER WE WERE TOLD HER NAN WAS BUSY IN THE OFFICE.

*** VERY DISAPPOINTING***

Not good. The food offered is sub standard portion control mush. Not worth stopping to have a look.

Not to be overlooked is that there is a five van camping site behind the pub with electric hook ups.

This large roadside pub has the old stables coverted to holiday accomodation, chalets in the garden and a large children's play area.
Food prices aren't bad for the area, and the lounge/restaurant has had quite a bit of money spent on it.
The problem is the bar. At first glance it looks OK, then you notice that all of the chairs are threadbare and appear to be the old restaurant chairs. The walls are painted in a warm red colour, but this can't detract from the fact that it always seems cold in here, even with the fire going.
The other problem is the beer. It's not the worst in the world, but no matter which ale they have on, it always appears to have an unpeasant tang.
