Took my wife to the stenson bubble today for sunday lunch turned out to be one of the worst meals ever had , beef was tough and inedable, veg was cold undercooked and clearly frozen not fresh. When i complained to the `Manager` was informed thats how they do their vegitables here and was quite upertty. Was not trying to get something for nothing as waitress was quite good and even left her a tip.Definatley will not go back and wouldn`t recommend as there are alot of better and value for money pubs than this one

my partner and i had a meal there on saturday night and we will not be going back it was awful, first we had to wait 20 minutes before i went and found a waitress to get a menu then we were told that we would have to wait 45 minutes for our meal and to be fair there were not that many people in the pub, when it arived we were served with cream of vegetable soup that looked and tatsted like dish water, and the prawn cocktail was warm? the main came ,my partner ordered rump steak more like shoe leather that had been picked up off the floor, and the whole meal was cold, i orded the gammon ,it looked like someone had sent it back and i had the left overs, we didn't complain we just couldn't get out there quick enough, and it cost us 30.00 pounds to boot, never ever again.

me an my partner went to view the place as a venue for our wedding reception and were met by a lady called faye. very pleasant when showing us around and said they could cater for pretty much anything we wanted regarding food for our do. we took a list of options up in person for her to look at and quote on. after 3 weeks we called to see if she'd come up with any prices and got nothing from her apart from it'll be done in a few days. 2 weeks later rang again and got told similar thing. we then went up again and left a phone number in case she'd lost ours. 2 weeks later still no response from them. if any body is considering a function here i would seriously think twice because if they cant even be bothered to post a quote out for the function then what chance is there of them being bothered to put on a good function for you. we first went up in june 2010 by the way and its now november.

Stayed at the Bubble Inn for a few days while we attended the Download festival and couldn't rate it highly enough. The room was of an outstanding standard and the staff were very attentive and friendly and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Great location, food and drink were excellent (especially the 3.50 carvery which was delicious and superb value!!). I would not hesitate to reccommend this place and would love to visit again in the future.

Excellent choice of beer with the odd guest alongside the Pedi and Bass.

Has been given a lick of paint and looks quite smart.

Although my visit wasn't as bas as the previous poster - the food was average at best. It is a fair price at 3.50 for a carvery and is better than most at this price.

Worth a visit but the car park is often rammed during sunny weekends.

Without doubt the most disgusting food I have eaten (or not eaten because I refused both offerings yetsreday) within 10 miles of Stenson. I moved to the area recently and have sampled the eateries locally. This was the worst. The staff were aplogetic about my rib eye steak smelling off and were happy enough to replace it with a pie (no cash difference refund offered though, nor even a complimentary drink(. I will never patronise this pub again for food or a drink as I was so disgusted with the food. This is a genuine complaint and not one from a local hostelry. Really sickened me that a pub can try and pass rubbish off at these prices. I came home from The Bubble hungry yet unable to eat as my appetite was ruined by this pub food experience.

The lady serving our table was faultlessand even offered to get the chef to our table but considering he served two inedible meals to our table I thought it pointless to discuss anything with anyone incompetant after two failed attempts.

There are much better eateries within a mile of The Bubble, choose carefully.

If you are the chef at The Bubble and you read this please take notice because I am quite happy to spread the word of my discontent.

The Bubble has been closed for much of the summer due to the bankruptcy of the previous owner, but according to the barmaid, it reopened under new ownership about 6 weeks ago. There were 3 handpumps in use when I called in yesterday, Pedigree and two brews from the Ashbourne micro Leatherbritches. The beer was pretty good and I was served by a very pleasant barmaid.

The downside for me was the background music which was not only a little bit too loud, it was continuous Elvis Presley. I dont dislike Elviss music in small doses, but after 45 minutes of nothing else but Elvis, I was getting thoroughly pissed off with it.

Good luck to the new owners. I hope that you will succeed. But PLEASE choose the kind of background music will appeal to a wider audience.

We called in at the Stenson Bubble for lunch with some friends recently during a boat trip on the Trent & Mersey Canal. I have to say that the women werent too impressed with the ladies loo, but other than that, it was pretty good. There is plenty of room both inside and out; the staff all seemed to be good at their jobs; and on the real ale front there was a choice of either hand pulled Pedigree or Tanglewood, both of which were first class.

No problems with the food either. There is a good selection of reasonably priced pub grub on the menu and our meals, all of which were excellent, were freshly cooked, served fairly quickly and the chips were home made.

Although the Bubble is basically a canal side pub, there is good road access too and we will definitely be calling there again by car, if not by boat

Disappointing. The pub is in a great position close to the canal and I would think it could be very busy in the summer and at weekends. The beer was quite good and the bar service efficient. We went for a lunchtime meal and although the menu is not extensive two out of the three choices we made were not available. The menu says it takes about 20 minutes for the meal to arrive, longer if its busy, for 20 read 40 and it wasn't busy. It was a sunny day and we sat outside, it was dirty. Shame, it used to be really nice.

Nice little boozer with a decent selection of beers in a tranquil canalside location. Food is good too and barstaff are competent and friendly. Gets a bit busy at weekends but locals seem friendly enough. Recommended.
