This Marstons pub is just a couple of doors up from the Cricket & Sports Club. It is fairly large and has a nice patio area at the front of the pub, with a car park behind. Banks's Bitter was the only real ale on offer. Not the best pub in KIng's Heath.

Used to be a Banks`s pub, think they were bought out by Marstons or some other faceless pub chain. Inside reminds me of a quaintly dated pub lounge of about 25 years ago...when a pint cost tuppence more than in the bar `cause the room had carpet! Respectable pub all round, expect the food is good standard fare, the beer is well looked after, clean, subdued lighting e.t.c. Bit of an oddity though being situated between the Pear Tree (Wetherspoons - nuff said) and the Nob up the Hill (Chavvy and unfriendly) attracts customers who appear to be ageing Status Quo fans or retired teachers.

Odd place as it doesn't look like a pub, more like one of those big old houses, that are now doctors surgeries or dentists. Because of this, having driven past it almost daily for over 10 years, I only "discovered" it recently. A well kept secret, as it certainly doesn't have many chavs or tramps in there. Civilised pub serving good beer, but lacks atmosphere.

Looking at the comments below I'm very surprised.
The food every time we have had something has been exceptional. and arrived in a prompt time. The staff have been very friendly and Brian the manager has always been polite.
They have also got a fantastic quiz on both a Monday and Wednesday night which is designed for all, with cash prizes food and wine. You could come last and still manage to win the cash prize which is good.

there's Poker on a Thursday night or Live entertainment on a Saturday night, with the last Saturday of each month been Karaoke which is always a laugh...

I'm sorry the guys below were not overly impressed but I think everyone to there own, In my opinion it is definately work a visit.

Nice little place, same bunch of locals for years despite management changes. I used to drink in there regularly about 10 years ago and not much has changed since it opened. Tasty pies although the menu is a bit basic but its cheap enough and theres a fairly decent range of beers. There's a large covered decked area out the front for the smokers which is good in summer. But be warned, the main bar is haunted by a consistent pong presumably from the sewers which can be a bit off putting.

I like it. Nice quiet little place, although I haven't been in there for a while. The snug is nice anyhow.
