Had a superb Sunday Roast at the Bell. The food was wholesome hot and tasty and in abundance. 8.95 for the main course. They keep a fine pint of 6X I am fussy about this, it is one of my favourite ales. Recommended

Have made a return visit to the Bell and found it to be under new owner/managementship. You can see that changes in the decor are under way and at least a dozen or so people in there this lunchtime. A young chef and friendly bar staff..Lunchtime snacks menu looked inviting all under a fiver, although i found some other known pub dishes a bit pricey..i.e the Lamb shank 10..I look forward to going back when the transformation has taken place, and nice to see someone has taken an interest and trying to make a go of it..Having seen it before and now a definate, directional improvement..

The Bell, i found this country local somewhat tired in the decor dept,3/4 seperate rooms, laid out with tables for dining, the bar itself was typical of it,s type.the landlord was watching tv in the pool section, and i was the only customer, the landlord seemed hospitable but,was quick to add that he was leaving due too lack of trade, his spouse commented that only a few locals use the place,.At 3.00 i paid for my lowest gravity real ale,and 8.50 for a carvery,i could well sympathise with the locals. This reminded me of the old sales addage, and i quote"is it better to sell 10 pints at 1-oo or 5 pints at 2-00."It must be remembered that we all have to suffer increases in gas/elec etc,not just the local shop/pub.

Too true!
This pub has all the ingredients for a perfect evening out. Great music, good company, great fod, and good selection of beers and wines! A winner with me too!

I couldn't disagree more with the last comment. This pub has a brilliant atmosphere, and the owners couldn't be more welcoming. The food is superb and nothing is too much trouble. The pub garden is lovely and accomodating to families too.
Well worth a visit! Keep up the good work!

Lovely pub, but haven't found a particularly "warm" welcome. In fact the landlord and his wife seem to have their on circle of friends and if you're not in it then you can be safely ignored.
Have eaten there twice with 4 others and the food in the evening was much better than that at lunchtime, although from the same menu. Different chef?

Wow, I wish they had taken over the Knatchbull Arms in Stoke St Michael (2 Miles down the road), what a difference, fantastic food, company and most of all beer !!! Keep up the good work. Well worth a visit by anyone.

New owners have been in the pub for over a year now and have turned it around! Well done!A friendly, family service where nothing is too much trouble.

Our favourite local pub. Good beer, good food - served in the bar until quite late, excellent friendly service.
