Had 3 bitters on - a Sharps (doom bar I think), a Cornish craft beer IPA, and the pubs own IPA. I had the latter which was tasty and well kept. There were loads of ciders on offer, but as I don't drink those, can't comment other than there were a few to choose from. The landlord was friendly and it certainly seemed popular with the locals.
It's about a 20 odd minute walk from Hugh town (unless you go via the coast and add another 20), but it's worth a change from the touristy places in Hugh town.
It's just past the local shop and spitting distance from the airport. It looks like a barrack house from the outside but has a pleasant interior, and a garden out front and back. Dog friendly too,

Seemed a very nice pub. Boasts of having 30 ciders on. Old Rosie was off, but they served a good pint of Moles Perry instead. About half of the 30 were real ciders.

I found this pub away from the main tourist traps a real change and preferred it to those in Hugh Town. Beers from the Ales of Scilly were, as hoped, good quality and, despite the fact that I was manifestly a visitor, I was given a warm welcome.

I didn't realize such a thing as an excellent pint of Doom Bar still existed .

My personal favourite on the Isles of Scilly - an excellent pint of Doom Bar, served by a really friendly and helpful landlord who values his customers. There is also quite an extensive menu, including daily specials, which are cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. A quite basic pub, but highly recommended.

Contemporary pub a short walk from Hugh Town. Beer was good including a local ale. Pool table available and bar service good. We didnt eat here, so cant criticise.

A nice little pub hidden away from the "main drag", this place has a landlord who is keen on his beers and serving good quality pints. Fortunately they had the Ales of Scilly "Firebrand" which was just our kind of pint - excellent. We visited around three times and found it to be welcoming with consistent high beer quality. Very pleasant place to exchange banter and while away the hours when one of those rare Scilly downpours occurs!

My favourite pub on St Mary's. Really friendly place and the beer was excellent. Home cooked food which was excellent and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

Called in on a walk whilst on holiday. What a fantastic pub. Lovely couple running it in their 3rd season.
Beer was excellent. Choice of Doom Bar, Ales of Scilly 3 Sheets and a guest beer (cant remember what it was!). Can see why they are in the Good Beer Guide this year.
Great home cooked pub food at a very reasonable price.
Very friendly staff and locals.
Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Advertised as opening on a Friday lunch time... which on this occasion it didn't. If you are similarly caught out on the way to the airport you could try the Tolman cafe a few minutes walk away as it serves bottles of UBU bitter.

Is a nice local pub for the regulars of old town to have a fun evening in. Not a always busy roudy type pub but still a nice crowd.
I worked here last summer, I do believe I remember serving that crab soup mentioned in the first comment. In agree'ance with the comment also, nice selection of ales on tap, and bottled, by order of the owners, food very good, and yes sports avaliable.
Keep up the good work guys, maybe see u again this summer

With some trepidation, based on earlier beerintheevening reviews, we approached the Old Town on 12 Jun 2008. Rather nondescript from outside, but on entering our impressions are quite favourable: a bright, clean, woody interior. Three ales on the bar: Scilly Scuppered, Doom Bar and Sharps IPA. I chose the Doom Bar, whilst my friend's eyes fell gleefully on the Rattlesnake cloudy cyder. The ale was in fine condition and well-served. There were a few folk at the bar, a mixture of local lads and folk staying in the (smart new?) b+b rooms the pub has. There are hints of recent decoration, and possibily new ownership, We sit outside in the small, but tidy courtyard in front of the pub amongst the almost-tropical plants in the beds.

We're not massively hungry, but nevertheless I chose the "soup and roll" snacklet. Discussions at the bar upgraded this to the crab soup 'special', and it was very good indeed.

This is a super pub: 8/10, we agree, after settling in to a 3pt lunch!

Very basic even the food. Beer poor but not as bad as the Bishop. Thought being the OLD TOWN INN it would be a place with character but it isn't. Not my sort of pub.

The Island: the main island - see the Mermaid.
The Pub: Located in Old Town away from the busier Hugh Town is at the far end of 'town' away from the beach. Basic pub that has plenty of room. England were playing when we arrived and you could follow by watch the text (or similar) on the screen by the entrance.
Beer:decent pint of Sharps Doom Bar
Food: Didn't try but looked like standard pub grub
