This place is fantastic! We stayed before attending a River Cottage event and the welcome and service was outstanding. The owner was away on holiday and the lad covering worked the room bookings, bar and restaurant single handedly and did a fabulous job. The rooms were excellent value and we stayed for a meal.... excellent menu with lovely choice of dishes, the meal itself was fabulous I was so shocked the standard was top restaurant standard and mouth watering. We had a great nights sleep and had another excellent home cooked breakfast. You are a gem amongst gems - we will definitely be back! Well done .

friendly staff, warm fire, decent pint of 6X but pricey soft drinks!

Oh dear!

Visited the pub for the first time since 2005 ( It's a little far away as we emigrated to Australia).

What a disappointment.

It used to be full of local characters, and served a menu that was worthy of a 30 mile round trip from our old home in Honiton.

Now, I'm afraid it is a typical pub group pub, but rather dreary pub grub.

Some of the staff are friendly though!

I believe this pub has recently been taken over. I was thouroughly impressed, the food was fantastic and the staff polite and helpfull. There is a fantastic atmosphere about the place with a log fire in the bar and lovely table decorations. I will be returning soon.

I have heard that the Hyamker is in new hands, and that the food and overall package is very good indeed!

Lovely food; If you are prepared to wait you will not be disappointed.
Beautiful pub, tastefully decorated - warm and inviting, lovely fire in the winter.Fantastic views from the pub
Only negative point- not enough staff - one well mannored / lovely bar staff - waiting tables and serving 2 bars on his/her own- very overstretched when diners in the restaurant. If you are prepared to take things slowly and will be patient with the poor overstretched member of staff you will have a great experience.
I rate this pub 8/10 and loosing 2 points for poor staffing levels only.
