Stumbled on this pub after we could not get into the smugglers in Milford. Things must have changed a lot since the reviews of 2010 because we found it a wonderful place. Lots of atmosphere, well appointed, really tasty food (It has very much an Italian slant). Reasonable prices for both beer and food - Staff very obliging. Don't drive by.

Visited twice over Easter 2010. Nice atmoshpere, real live band, local beer was well kept.Bar staff and landlord helpful and friendly. Sunday evening quiz was a real gem.
Didnt try the food as we we were staying in our caravan in the forest.
One negative the gents toilets were truly poor.

Good beer, good surroundings and service from the young man behind the bar that was exceptional. Food; very basic Brake Bros type and not that cheap. Good place for a drink and a chat but go up the road to the Brittania for a better meal.

wow what a difference from last time, this pub is 150% better. it has new owners and a whole new menu.
we were staying at the caravan park and we said last year never again to the plough but we saw the "under new manegment "sign outside and thought why not and boy am i glad we went in. we were greated as soon as we walked in by one of the staff, and they got our drinks, it was not that busy so i started talking to the landlords son who told me of the pubs that they have had in the past and it seemed he showed a genuine intrest in us as customers, we were made to feel really welcome, the food was fantastic mostly home made and after dinner the kids wore themselfs out in the garden and play area. we look forward to going back in the autum

a really nice oldy worldy pub. standerd food and good beer. large garden and welcomes dogs. a usung treasure of the forest

Really wanted to like this pub it's local to where we stay. On a summer lunchtime the carpark was almost empty - I felt it was probably going to be bad, but sadly didn't trust my instinct. The food was very disappointing, Toad-in-the-hole made with potato flakes and not the'locally produced sausages' promised on the menu, I'd recognise those Walls style bangers anywhere. The lasagne had no bechemal sauce at all and was luke warm. The accompanying salad was unbelievable! I had a mouldy sculpted radish, blackened with new shoots growing out of it as it was so antiquated (think of the impications - plate to plate type thing), on top of withered browned leaves!! Loos absolutely filthy too. They need a visit from Gordon Ramsay big time!!

Proper country pub meets holiday maker food chain. Interesting old pub with original beams and open fires in winter. Live music,reasonable food and beer and plenty of character. If you are looking for a minimalist modern bar this is not it, often has wellie-booted farmers with dogs. Toilets are adequate but could do with modernising.

one of the dirtiest bars i have ever been in, the gent toilets a something to behold, circa 1950's i would think, added to this the beer is almost undrinkable. worth a visit by the time team.
