Had a Christmas meal there with friends recently. The food was surprisingly good, as was the beer. Staff friendly and efficient. However the pub has little atmosphere and largely caters for diners.

Went to this pub a couple of weeks back looking for a bite to eat, saw previous reviews and figured we'd risk it as it was close to where we were. Turns out it's under new ownership and the food was delicious. Beer was good, friendly welcome and a lovely interior..

We went to this pub when the new management took over, the food portions are very small we had to send the food back to be re-heated when it finally arrived it still was luke warm, maybe something wrong with their microwave! The beer was flat and tasteless, and my wifes wine glass was dirty. overall the food was second rate and pricey, beer was no good and the service was burger king standard, would not go again.

The weather was magnificent so the beer garden was used, only 2 ales - McMullens AK & Hop Leaf Spring Zing, both on form. Friendly staff. Was last here 11 or so years ago and I remember around that time drinking Benskins bitter & stopping at the last 20 mls cos it was full of sediment, it didn't put me off for 11 years though I just moved jobs!

Very friendly pub, the landlady welcomed us as we came (even though she wasn't at the bar). Nice beer garden and a conservatory, quite a foody sort of pub, we didn't eat but other customers were complimentary about the food. 2 real ales on, McMullens AK and a guest, both in very good condition on a hot day,

I thought this was supposed to be a pub, not a creche!

This is a lovely pub. I think it has new owners now and the staff are really attentive and very accomodating. It's a great pub to take a baby to, it's really spacious, enough room for several prams! The food is ok needs more vegetarian options

I was in Chorleywood for the first time today and I found my way to The Stag. I thought it was a very friendly pub with staff who were very approachable. I was lost and needed to get to the tube station and they seemed very pleased to help me. I had a good chat with them about various things and if I'm ever in the town again I'll definitely seek this pub out. The McMullen's Best is a nice drop.

I agree, its a typical McMullen's Pub. The food is quite nice and the management friendly. However, the younger memebers of staff are rude and abrupt. Don't hold out much hope of decent customer service. They'd rather be talking amoungst themselves or calling other staff, and even customers "c*nts" (to quote an example). Of course, this never occurs when the managements around!

First ever visit to a McMullen pub. Staff were welcoming, house beer however was grim. Here or the Land of Liberty.......no brainer.

If you're looking for quality food don't go here. if you're happy to eat half cooked, microwaved rubbish then this is the place for you. Having spent 8 + on fishcakes I would at least expect them to be cooked properly - they were cold in the middle. The 'selection of veg' that came with it was the same as my partners roast and looked like they had been sitting around all afternoon in water before being zapped in the microwave. Limp, tasteless and totally unappetising to look at. Surely you can't go that wrong with such a simple dish? If you want good, home-made, fresh and tasty food go to the Rose and Crown on the common.

A typical mcmullens pub.the food is not cheap but is good, the staff are very friendly and polite and run a clean happy pub.if you are in the area I recommend a visit.there are two pubs here The Stag and the pretty land of liberty peace and plenty, although the best food and atmosphere will be found at the Stag..
