2 years since last visit....price has gone up to 3.60 for cheapest pint of ale.
Bit over the top in a small village almost defunct of real ale. I didnt buy the round but the beer was too cold.

2nd visit to the pub...Unfortunately at 3.50 for an ale was overpriced compared to the rest of the village. You would need to a fat wallet ,so 1 pint was enough. The pricing is wrong.

Second visit to the Dun Cow Inn, both times at the weekend. Service was good without being exceptional although we didn't have to wait long to order or be served with our meals. The food was decent with generous portions and the chips are far nicer than I have had in most pubs. I am not an expert on ales but my father in law knows his stuff and seemed to enjoy his pint of Black Sheep. Definitely worth a visit.

Can't understand why this place only employs miserable staff. The food is good if a little over priced and pretentious undersized. They have 4 ales, always Black Sheep and Theakstons Bitter plus two that change (sometimes). Shame the bar staff don't know how to pull them or use a decent tulip! With better training and some genuinely happy and pleasant staff this would rank higher.

I visit this pub regularly on business and have stayed on several occasions, which I have to say are comfortable but some areas could do with massive improvement such as:- The mention of the "MISERABLE STAFF" probably relates to the related assistant manager and daughters who openly winge about their customers, workmates and employer. It all makes for a strange atmosphere when one of the waitress daughters actually has to do some work, one of whom regularly leaves the bar to do something else leaving customers waiting!! I even heard one resident being told gruffly "YOUR NEXT" whilst complaining about a half hour wait for service whilst watching a local walk in, order taken and food served whilst waiting for service!! There seems to be a smidgeon of staff who do work there who are courteous and cannot do enough to help but they are seldom at work, those mentioned seem to be there a lot and seem to be wrapped up in their private conversations which as mentioned are dissentful to other staff and customers. It seems to me that there is a recipe of nepotism about who works here and how often!! But the food is good and there is a good selection of ales and wines.

Was at the Dun Cow Inn on Friday night. The staff were friendly, the lager was cold and a good sup and the atmosphere was lovely. Didn't get the chance to eat there but the menu looked excellent and the food looked wonderful. It was busy but there wasn't a long wait to be served.

There is a bit of a reburb going on apparently but I saw no evidence of any disruption.

All in all, I can't fault this pub at all, a great discovery and just a shame that it about 280 miles away!

Much better now it's smoke free but last night the sevice was appalling. It took 13 minutes to get served when the bar was'nt particularly busy. The staff all looked miserable & all started scowling when one disgruntled punter asked 'has Happy Harry been in tonight?'.They seemed to deliberately keep people waiting, maybe they were on a'go-slow'?.The beer, when I eventually got it was excellent though.

Really good food but the staff need to be updated on their customer service skills. Being served with a smile would make all the difference.

The cask ale is usually well kept but I find that you either get served straight away or wait 10 minutes!--the staff, all extremely pleasant, seem to vanish before your eyes, but I suppose its usual in a busy hotel resteraunt & bar.Smoke can be a problem, roll on July.

If you have a complaint about a pub you do know that it is common courteousy to tell the staff while you are there and not to slag them off on a website!

Woo the sunny dunny!!!! how great is this place, ha.haa! The sunny dunny rocks, the staff are the best thing since sliced bread! The service is not appalling it is fantastic we don't get any complaints! We are not rude, discourteous or inconsdierate, we pride ourselves on good food, good beer, and got customer realtions so dont know what the hell you are talking about! I was working the 28/01/07, it was a really busy day but we still have the time to be polite and couteous with all of our customers! kapeech!

Excellent Sunday dinner; shame about the service which was nothing short of appalling. Couldn't help thinking we'd walked into a staff dispute. Based on the food, don't miss this; based on the staff, if you like rude, inconsiderate and discourteous, this is the place for you. No Stella!!!!

Landlord is rather like a public schoolmaster who peers over his half-moon spectacles and demands to know if you are enjoying yourself. Nice pub though. Tony Blair took George W here for lunch in 2004 (apparently he had his meal cooked in a special CIA van outside) They do accommodation too. Haven't tried it, but must be better than the dismal local Travelodge.

Good selection and turnover of guest ales, always well kept and well served.

Food can dominate a little and 'old style' opening hours tend to prevail, so don't turn up 15:00 to 18:30-ish.
