A long time since my last visit when I thought the place looked a little jaded.

Bright and cheery inside, fairly lively too for a Saturday lunchtime, however footfall increased I'm sure as Barnstaple RFC were playing at home around the corner.

A decent pint of Tribute, a pub to certainly visit if you are in the area.

A decent pub (barnstaple doesn't have many) in a nice location a stones throw from the town centre.
We had a couple of glasses of white wine which were good and also at a reasonable price.
The interior is pleasant with eating tables in one area and more of a bar with a pool table in the other, also has some decking outside.
Not sure if this is still a pub owned by St. Austell brewery.
The landlord was a friendly pleasant chap who told us he has spent alot of money on the place and it does show.
A good pub indeed.

10/10

Impressed with the Rolle Quay - best pint i've had in Barnstaple (and believe me, I've looked), friendly bar staff who knew their stuff and a woodburner to keep the cold out. A good local's local. If you're looking for a decent pub in a town that has criminally few - this is it

Ok, this place might not be to everyone's taste but IMHO it ticks all the important boxes. We called in for a meal there whilst on holiday and kept going back. The beer was wonderfully kept and served and the St. Austell Tribute was the best I've tasted anywhere. The locals, (and it is a locals' pub), were friendly without being intrusive and the food was home cooked, ample and most importantly tasted great. The juke box has some great sounds on it too. Yes, the bar can get a bit lively and the decor is a little dated but these are minor carps. This pub is just brilliant and if I lived in Barnstaple I would make it my local.

A st. Austell house the beers are much better than average, a contender for the GBG surely. Outside is amassive council car park where you can always get parked. The town centre is two minutes away.

Nice pub. Went there because of the review below. But the beer range was very limited. Just the standard Tribute and another Sharpe's beer. Decided to move on to the local JDW where the range was superb - and a good deal cheaper.
