As an icedent on the 7th of june the police were notified of an disturbance at the dog and duck it is my understanding that the landlady`s daughter whent phsyco smashing all the optics and atacking the punters this i thought was terribly out of order as no one had done any thing wrong the rating of this pub has plumited the only person that has any consideration for the punters is don the landlord it is suposed to be a family run pub but the family is the one ruining the reputation of the pub. It when up hill but with incodents like that no wonder the pub is usually empty ive had a few reports off of other clients in the area saying the same thing joker18 out

The Dog and Duck has improved drastically over the last few months with new landlords in, who have cleaned up the foul mouthed brawling regulars and general dross who used to frequent the pub.

The barmaid is friendly, the husband and wife too.

I live local to the pub, and the owners have gone out of their way to provide good entertainment and a friendly environment in which you feel safe. Something that was sadly lacking in the past !

I am happy now to pop in for a few drinks and can even take in my young children without any worries of just how awful it used to be in there.

Fab place - highly recommended.

i echo the previous post...the landlorsd is a nice easy going guy....... wife and daughter pleople with narrow minds with wide mouths. this is the best way to describe them. they are quck to judge people when they are far from perfect themselves. shame about these two, nice pub with friendley people.

This pub is the pits. The landlord is very friendly but his Mrs. and the other woman that works behind the bar lack any social graces at all. They are rude, arrogant and the word Harpies springs to mind. Drive on past!!!

had a small refurb by the new managers, projector for big screen either currently being mended or taken out completely. average at best, apparently can get some aggro at the weekends recently. pints are pricey too.

This pub started it very humble beginings as a pile of bricks that sat there in the road where the buses used to turn round. The main problem was planning and applications against the building of the pub by local residents. After around 3 years, building work finally started and the Dog and Duck was born. The first landlord who remained at the pub fopr around 4 years, turn the Dog and Duck into a fantastic success, with it's great food and live music 7 nights a week. People came from far and wide and it;s reputation grew from strength to strength. The landlord then moved on to a pub in Baldock, to work his magic there. The next landlord, Devlin, tried to keep up the tradiitonal 7 nights a week music, but the atmosphere changed and less people attended, thus the music got less and less. Soon it became just another council estate pub. Now it is full of odd balls and regulars, who starre at you when you walk in. You get the feeling that you should not be there. There are always the same sad people who sit on bar stools in the same place night after night, and dont care if you need to get to the bar, refusing to move out of the way. It is very clicky. Such a shame, The Dog and Duck was a great success, but due to rubbish customers and crappy management, has become a very uninspiring and uncomfortable place to go to.
