I went here last night having caught the brown, tourist information sign back out on the A4 the previous night driving past. Come off the A4, go down the lane until you reach the pub by the cricket green. I parked up, walked in to be met by the two gorgeous household brown labradors (B & O). Stunning lovely dogs, loads of real good badger beer on and home cooked food. At last a proper pub in Maidenhead, welcoming locals, olde worlde style and obviously superbly located for summer evenings and the cricket pitch and view. It's small because its old (as pubs were in the good old days) so thats not a detriment. Its a proper pub and I recommend it. Top stuff, pay a visit.

Should be called 'Candlewick Green'.

A group of us had a meal on a Sunday, I travelled from Hampshire and it is a lovely pub, close by a cricket match was in progress, and the pub was busy with locals for wet sales and a thriving meal trade. We had a 3 course meal with a Sundau menu, the desert will make your eyes pop out. Excellent value for money. The outlet is dog friendly and if you make yourself known to the 'govener' he will supply your dog with a small fido meal. Top marks for the staff, excellent service will go again.

"Best Sunday Lunch" advertised but was really disappointed. Food unimaginative and bland, beef really undercooked. All nicely presented but very plain - nothing to shout about. Although we pre-booked we were sat in a small room with a party of 12 adults & several very young children... not exactly the restful Sunday lunch we were hoping for. Despite the lovely location I'm afraid we won't be revisiting....

Recently went to the Cricketers. Used to go there in the summer for a beer as the cricket green is glorious in the sun. Alas the landlord did not seem to be quite as good as remembered. Service was ok, but nothing exciting and the beer not as good as previously. So sad, as the location is great.

The Cricketer is a lovely pub in a great location right at the cricket green in the picturesque village Littlewick Green. The new ownership brought the pub to a new level with great food and fantastic service.

Just visited the Cricketers which has a new landlord and new chef! What a great little pub; idyllic setting...rustic charm...cosy atmosphere.

Food was excellent. I had homemade pate to start followed by baked seabass which was cooked beautifully.

The place was buzzing with people and the staff were all friendly and welcoming.

I will definitely be going back for the Sunday Roast soon!

Hoping it was justr a bad day but we couldnt be more dissappointed with our visit to the wonderful pub
The setting is perfect, off the main road, next to a very pretty cricket ground. It is a 3 room pub with tables outside which was perfect as it was a gorgeous end of summer day for our visit.
Both the children and 2 springer spaniels were made welcome, the dogs even got treats and a water bowl. All set up nicely I thought as we sat below the magnificent walnut tree at the front door.
4 ales were displayed although they did say the Firsty Ferret and one other (I forget which now) were both not ready yet
I had a pint of Badger Gold which was Okay follwed by a Sussex best which was dreadful, cludy and full of sediment and had to be sent back. We ordered food but that was sent back to as it was undercokked. My daughter had pork which was as pink and jelly like as you could not wish for.
It is unfortunate that I write this now with the whole family having upset stomachs. The pub was wonderful to see and the setting just perfect but that it where it ended for us and I am sorry we will not be returning to eat altho we may try a beer if passing?

Excellent pub with good beer. Friendly locals. Dog friendly. Idyllic picture-postcard setting overlooking the cricket field.

Lovely place. Quite quirky, with a very friendly and chatty landlord. Nice atmosphere. Very pleasant old fashioned pub in a pretty location.

I completely agree with the comments below. After travelling out of London to try this pub, based on the reviews here, I was not disappointed. The food is excellent, there are some pleasant unusual choices on the menu and the prices are not unreasonable either. The beer is kept well too.

Great little pub looking out on to the cricket green in a lovely village with some Enid Blyton type thatched cottages as well. Tourists from overseas would love the setting as it is so English. We stayed overnight and the accomodation was comfortable. The food is good and with Tangle Foot on tap, they could do no wrong. Good beer selection. Very recommended. There is also a lot to see in the local area with Henley On Thames close.

Splendid country pub a couple of miles west of Maidenhead just off the A4, situated in a pretty village overlooking the cricket green. No real fire on our visit yesterday - we were sitting outside in the warm summer sunshine, enjoying a fine lunch. No scumbags or lager louts in sight, just friendly locals and visitors like ourselves. Note the exceptionally large factory clock in the main bar. This pub is highly recommended - well worth seeking out
