We were afforded a warm welcome when we stopped on the way to Bath. My ploughman's was excellent (Best coleslaw I've ever tasted!) and all our party reported their food was first class. A range of Hall and Woodhouse beers on offer, but I can't comment on the quality as I was driving. (The man on the next table did say his Fursty Ferrett was fairly decent!).
I would definitley call in again if I am this way.

Went as a party of 5, and a 10 month year old. Staff were pleasent and friendly.

Food was good, and well priced, however the starters could have been a little bit bigger, or cheaper!

The staff were most occomadating, proving a bowl of hot water to warm a jar of baby food, an a mixed grill that was not on the menu!

Overall a great way to celebrate my mums 50th

One day this oub will be mine (we can all dream). As a roadside eating house it has the potential to be one of the best. Between May and June 2008 it had a temporary manager who absolutley turned the place around (where is he now I ask?). With the right operator (like the afore mentioned individule. Anyone know his name?) this place can 'fly'. 10/10. If your afyter food in a pleasent atmosphere with ample parking, this is the place.

This pub has had a string of managers who have not lasted very long and have not done much to make anything of the place. However, my daughter told me that new people had taken over and she was impressed by the food and atmosphere. So, on a whim I decided to give it another try as I had not been in the place for many years. I am pleased to say that the landlords welcome was friendly and attentive. Three live beers, all well kept, and the food tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. It is not a cosy village pub but is clean and spacious. It has a large garden which I think would be nice to sit out in with the children in good weather.

Disapointed, stopped for a drink and although beer overpriced the food looked good.
we returned 2 weeks later for a meal which to say the least was just pasable.the reason i write this is because i wrote a letter to the manager and head chef and never replied. even when we mentioned it in the pub at the time they just sent the waitrese. on a whole a disapointing experience.....

Agree with all other comments, but think the beer is over priced. 3.20 for a pint is outrageous, even though it was first class.

A very pleasant pub, they keep a decent pint of Fursty Ferret. The Sunday lunch carvery could be more generous with its meat portions, but there's plenty of veg. Recommended as a lunch stop - I've never done an evening there, so go by others' comments.

We took the kids here for dinner on a weekday, and the staff were genuinely friendly. Beer good, but pricey. Food was good. Definitely worth a visit.

I would rate this pub 10/10!
Theres disabled access to both the pub and patio area and the pub itself is completely non-smoking!
There is a large car park which is perfect for coach parties and functions and it is close to both Longleat and Brokerswood!
There is plenty of choice on their menu's, including a good selection for vegetarians. The menu has also been adapted for gluten-free diets! What more could you want?
Each time I have been to this pub, I have always received a warm and friendly welcome. I would definitely recommend this venue for families. There is a good size garden for children to just let loose!
I am told that the garden is in the process of being altered and will soon have the addition of a purpose built play house and sandpit - perfect for the summer!!!

I went to this pub last night with a friend and we had a wonderful evening. The atmosphere was so friendly, the surroundings were warm and cosy with a stunning fireplace filled with candles. The young lady, and gentleman who waited on our table were incredibly polite, friendly and curteous and last but no means least the food was EXCELLENT!

i had the chicken with cheese and bacon on a bed of stir fried veg - gorgeous! My friend had the chicken fajitas which came out sizzling, in fact another diner was so impressed she cam over to our table to see what it was!

We then shared a dessert which the description on the menu didn't do justice - it was described as a chocolate mouse on a biscuit base with icing - but it has to be seen (and tasted!) to be believed!

The drinks prices were reasonalble and i would recommend this pub to anyone. We will definatly be going back as there are many other dishes on the menu we wanted to try!!

10 out of 10!

I stopped at The Bell on my back back to London after a Christening nearby. The food was divine, I had the fish pie and it was delicious...I've been told by my friends who live locally that the Sunday carvery is superb and I wouldn't hesitate to stop by if I was in the area again..... other great point is that its non smoking, 5*......

The Bell at Standerwick is a good pub, I regularly have a Sunday carvery here with the family and always find the food to be excellent. The service is always good here too.

This pub is non-smoking so is great to be able to enjoy a meal! There are usually 4 real ales available so always a good choice.

We usually eat in the bar area but they have recently opened a restaurant - friends have told me that they had an excellent meal here recently.

Worth a visit!

Recently visited this pub and had a fantastic evening with a group of friends. The food was great - I had roasted Camembert, and pan seared fillets of sea bass, a really enjoyable meal. The wine and real ale choice was also excellent. We found the staff friendly and helpful - I would definitely recommend this pub.

I went there last week with my friend and his family for his birthday - it was awful!

The service was lukewarm with a huff - requests for extra condiments brought a sigh and a teaspoon full of mayo....

They got the order wrong - compeltely missing off one of us.

Then they ran out of fillet steak (on a Saturday!!) so before the orders had arrived we were not impreseed.

The starter of Pan Fried Mushroom was literaly that - one mushroom about the size of a jammy dodger came out - not even cooked all the way through.

Then my rare steak was so well done it was nearly un cuttable!

As we were in a large group we didn't complain - and now I wish I had.

To add insult to injury the total bill had not been calculated and we had to do ti ourselves!

Would never ever go there again - awful meal and dreadful service!
