please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Although more of a restaurant than a pub, it has exposed brickwork, wooden beams, etc and has a good atmosphere - see the website via Google for pictures and menus. Three Greene King real ales were on the handles, mine was in excellent condition. Service was friendly and efficient, my rump steak was cooked to perfection. This pub rapidly filled up at lunchtime and competes with the Old Mill which is only a few hundred yards away. Worth revisiting, although we were told it's closing sometime in September for 6 weeks while it's being extended - better check before going.

Nice decor and beer on my visit was good. Touch pricey but with no near rivals not surprising. Food looked good but havnt tasted.

Used to be a good pub but now is keener to host kiddies' parties, regardless of time of day, and is happy to serve slops from behind (under) the bar in order to maximise profits. Range of beers is good, if boring, but make sure you see it coming from the pump. At least it still has no music or "entertainment" machines.

Great local pub with excellent food and service. Fantastic vegetarian menu - was expecting the usual 2 choices but was amazed to be offered 12 vegetarian main course options! Food arrived in approx 10 mins so also good if you're just stopping for a quick lunch break.

Nice traditional pub with views of Ticthfield Abbey. Recommended for a quiet evening or lunchtime chat. Food a little insubstantial, but reasonable range of beers and friendly staff. Can obviously get busy at touristy times.

this is a good old traditional pub with a relaxing atmosphere, not comercial like all the others these days. it has good selection of wines, beer and ale which are all very cheap. the staff are all friendly and theres no music, thank god, some us still like to chat and hear whats said. i grant that the kitchen staff are young but it is that time of year when students are trying to earn money so i,m sure it will improve again in the spring when they all return to uni. a lovely country pub. worth stopping at!

16/7/03. Apparently owned by Laurel inns. Bar staff very pleasant. Kitchen run by 17 year olds. Several choices not available/ out of stock. Incredibly poorly presented low value food. Several complaints this evening by other diners. I felt at one stage I was in "game for a laugh" such was the poor quality. Needless to say I sent my plate back.
