I used to use the Fountain a lot when I lived nearby. I was really fed up to see it shut & fenced off last time i went back home. Far rather it had been the Napier Youngs got rid of!

I had the Privelige to Run this Pub for a while in 2002 what a great pub it was for the locals loved it some really great charactors drank there and its very Sad that Youngs Pub Company saw fit to sell for developement yet again money comes 1st

This pub has now closed, and the site is fenced off.

It's a below average Young's pub - but above average for the area.

Well, it looks like I have the honour of being the first to post a comment on this pub, one of the 3 Youngs pubs in the area. Set back from the road, the large garden and imposing frontage lead you to expect a larger pub inside than is actually the case. It's a one bar typical Youngs local - on the Sunday lunchtime that I visited, they were hosting a special Childrens day with a bouncy castle, treasure hunt etc. There was also an outside barbecue. Motor racing was being shown on a large screen. This is a fairly good example of a traditional community local - well worth the 10 minute or so walk from the station
