Not really my sort of place - I prefer my bars more traditional but of its type this is pretty good. They definitely do real ale - there were three on when I went but they are not served via a traditional pump so it can be easy to miss them if you don't clock the cask ale menu on the bar. My pride of pendle was fine. Snacking food is great - chicken wings with a lovely coating, you could eat dangerously many. 7/10

Modern bar / restaurant joint in fashionable Castlefields. No ale from what I could work out, and the regulation lagers. Food was in decent nick and given the location reasonably priced; Still, not one I can imagine many BITE'ers would visit given the choice. Very much a 'young person' sort of hangout.

Duke's 92 looks great outside and in, with benches outdoors and lovely beams and antique-looking chairs in the bar. Unfortunately, this is where the positive points stop. When I went in it was pretty quiet, and although there were at least 6 staff working it took several minutes to get served with several more minutes spent looking for a corkscrew. This coupled with the fact that the draught beer selection was a bit poor, I won't be rushing back to this bar.

Sept 2006: I can say that this is one of my top bars in Manc - but let me tell you the bad points first: service could be more professional [but who cares once you've got ya beer]; it's crap when it's quiet; beer and soft drinks are far too expensive; bread and cheese is great but not now it's 5.50...

PLUS POINTS: no kidding, the best lemonade in Manc [great for hangovers on a hot day!!]. Canalside location in a pretty peaceful bit of Castlefield. Massive terrace with loads of tables [get there B4 1pm on a hot day]. The new pizza menu is ace - try sharing a huge pizza board with a mate!! Yum!!! The bar itself and building have got tons of character - not like the places on Deansgate Locks!! Great for people watching [i.e. laughing at overly trendy types with stupid hair and bad clothes]. Pop down on a warm day next year and see for yourself.

Pleasant space and friendly staff. Not cheap. The outside seating is a big plus.

Good pub if you want to go to a busy place at the weekends and don't mind mixed sex toilets! Great for outside drinking on a sunny day, lots of seating by the canal - incidentally by Lock 92 - hence the pub's name!

Seasonal, out of hours pub....ie visit it on a nice summers day & the place is the business!Great seating & surroundings inside whilst its a nicely chilled out place...........the criticism comes from visits at other times....but overall a good pub.

Not very impressed with this place. You can't move for people in the summer and it has no atmosphere in the winter. In addition, it is overpriced and the food is not up to much. Better take a 20 second walk to Barca - you're paying much the same but the food is a lot better.

this is a great bar, you avoid a lot of idiots, or at least the idiots you get in here have mroe money than most. the food is a lot better now too, summer weekends give bbq's weather permitting, and there susually salds, pasta and a roast to choose from, plus a big selection of cheese and pate. Much better than barca, where theres always an edge, and usually a fight.

in the summer time this is a really nice pub.... its funny its like the pub that time forgot in manchester. its secluded..well almost... and its near the canal.... its nice what can i say... youve also go onlooking the old dukes 92 house when i guess the original owners used to occupy (probably)! as for food theres not a great great selection but then its a typicial pub when it comes to food choices... chips.. sandwiches ..oh actually i will add they they do specialise in a cheese buffet ... where you have a selection of cheeses both domestic and foriegn to choose from. Il finish with whether you go here in the evening or in the day youll like it... its that quaint country pub you long for if your a resident in manchester..saves trappsing to didsbury all the time for a decent pub! i give this place a 5 star!!!
