The last pub tick of the day and indeed the weekend, its been a long weekend!

This 'spoons was the last one I needed to tick every pub listed in the 2015 GBG in Glasgow and now I've done it.

I come in just before 9.45pm on a Sunday and its not that full.

10 hand pumps with 8 different ales on. Some very good selections, I opted for pints of Wadworth Ye Old Admiral @ 5.0% and Hilden Brewing Co Nansen Street @ 4.8%%..both priced at £1.95 a pint, a great price for a city centre pub.

I rest my weary body at a table and enjoy my ales.

There's 2 large sized groups in but the rest of the punters are couples or singles.

A decent 'spoons with good ale choice and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

8/10

There appeared to be an Oakham Ales takeover tonight. After the travel issues I felt in need of a couple of pints of the Green Devil IPA (6%) and a half of Attila (7.5%), Wonderful stuff.

Handy for the city centre. Had a couple of fine Isle of Skye ales while en route to catch a train from Glasgow Central.

I liked it - the beer was good (Loch Lomond Ales being particularly nice stuff). I stuck to halves so that I could try a few - one of which was naff but the barman changed it for me without question if though it wasn't "off". CAMRA friendly with a little "information desk" in one corner. It's a good walk up Bothwell Street but a handy stop if your'e walking to Charing Cross from the City Centre.

normally i wouldn't find fault

but last night at the Edward Wylie was appalling, over an hour for dinner to be served and another hour before dessert never came, yes they did give me a refund

but that's not good enough, our group meets there monthly, may decide to go elsewhere and not patronise a Wetherspoons again

so that will be 2-3 dozen loyal customers lost

Edward Wylie, get some capable staff in, or else

This must be the best Spoons in Glasgow.
Friendly Manager, where nothing is too much trouble. On my last visit on a busy Saturday teatime, his worst nightmare happened. Two ale lines and two lagers blew out all at the same time.
As we were dining, I offered to wait until the ales had been changed. The NEW Duty female manager not only came and told us the two new ales were now on, but delivered them to our table.
This crew are to be thanked for there exceptional service, far above the average Spoons
Duncan the Dandy now ex Camperdown please note

Again, it's annoying when they don't turn the clips around when the beer is off. On Saturday afternoon I asked for the Edward Wylie (a Strathaven beer) and the Kingsdown Ale, only to be told both were off. Turn those chuffing clips around!
Nothing else worth having and I left in a huff.

didn't sample a beer as this was a breakfast stop. service ok tho this one is on the edge of the centre among offices so very few in early on a Saturday.

Sunday lunchtime, the place was pretty much deserted, due to the local offices being closed I guessed, quick friendly service, food was usual JDW fare, better than most I've had recently, it WAS only burger & chips! Clean surroundings and clean toilets, all in all a decent 'Spoons and worth a visit. They had 4 ( I think) handpumps on but as I was driving, I didn't partake, my Pepsi was good tho!

Had a very nice pint of "Harviestoun" here. Attracts the office workers @ lunchtime though.a nice little number all the same from jdw. 8/10

Saturday 4 June, 11.45 a.m. Six real ales 'on offer'. One of them is Old Tom at 8.5%, one is Fraoch (an acquired taste at best), two are from obscure/dubious small breweries and the other two are off, and no-one apparently interested in doing anything about it. Probably only an indictment of management rather than of the pub itself, but I won't be going back.

Excellent starting location for pub crawl in the city centre. Bar staff friendly. Good selection of real ales and draught continental beers

Nice place. Very reasonable prices and great food selections. Quiet atmosphere. As left-ponders, my wife and I found it very enjoyable indeed.

A Wetherspoon's bar. Good quality beer and food at reasonable prices. Can get very crowded in evenings and weekends.
