The 2 ales on are good northern style beers at reasonable for manchester prices (£2.50-£3) with discounts for card carrying CAMRA members

Well it was in the beer guide, so I gave it a try. I was quite surprised on a Saturday lunchtime to see the pub full of people drinking tea and eating full English breakfasts. Anyhow there were two ales on offer, the first one ran out before the glass was full, so I had the other. It was ok.

Called in twice recently, the last time between Xmas and New Year It's in the GBG 2009, it really shouldn't be. Both pints I've had have been at best average and in my opinion poorly kept. It's a decent enough place in a studenty type of way with birdcages hanging from the ceiling and other quirky things around the place. You need to step up to the mark with the real ale though guys.

This place is great for cocktails as there is a large selection, so i'm sure there is something for everyone's taste. Also i noticed group of people that were playing on Pro Evo on the large screen so everyone was happy and overall the place had a good atmosphere.

Quintessential student bar. Pro Evo soccer free to play on a giant screen in the bar & incredibly low drinks prices. Expected the £2 cocktails to be little more than coloured water but they were actually really nice & apparently pretty strong!
No complaints about the 2 guest ales or continental bottled selection either.

The ceiling to ground level windows don’t give one the finest views in Manchester, unless you like looking at grubby railway viaduct walls. Tucked away just off Oxford Street in a narrow street opposite Starbucks, this place is more a modern bar than a pub, laid out as it is in a “café bar” style, dotted with sofas and pouffes. There’s even a collection of birdcages dangling by the entrance. A rare feature is a lift to the downstairs area and almost as rare for a bar like this, there are two real ales that aren’t from national brewers. Surprisingly cheap food, no doubt with the local students in mind.

Very much a student's pub, but a good place to chill out. Two real ales are normally on tap, with a decent selection of bottled beers. Worth a visit.

Busy bar typical of this part of Manc but friendly staff and I didn't feel too old to be there (tho I was) No clips on the pumps but the 1 beer on was pretty good Decent

Is certainly a bar rather than a pub, but has good range of beer (bottled and on draught), isn't too expensive, has decent music, £2 cocktails and I'm told the food is good too.
Can get very busy though.

Doormen are indeed a joke, having refused various people I know on a number of ocassions but once inside it's nice. And they serve Desperados, which is always a bonus. £2 cocktails as well.

I love the laid back attitude here, sit in the comfy seats all night. Bar staff particularly friendly. A good bar to chill out.
