Good selection of beers and excellent service

Popped in despite our general dislike of Lloyds as had been failing to find any beer. A Drop of the Black Stuff was very good.

I suppose that it had something to do with the Real Ale festival being on (and perhaps because it was a Monday night), but this seemed more like a normal Wetherspoons than a Lloyds No. 1 bar. Anyway, the beer was good, the atmosphere was fine, and I find it hard to understand the current low rating.

Visited on 28th October (the night it was snowing). Had a decent meal here and the [recorded] music was at a level which enabled comfortable conversation with the locals.
Standard Lloyds No. 1 pub conforming to corporate operational models.
Only disappointment was two advertised ales were, in fact, not available despite their clips facing forward. I ended up drinking soft drinks and saving capacity for the next pub.

Called here a couple of times during a recent weekend visit. The place has a “used” feel to it, but is clean. The cask beers were good and food adequate & well-priced. More of a disco at night, sometimes charging entry. Would go again [fine in the daytime].

Good music, nice doorstaff but why so many fights? Cheap food, cheap beer, I s'pose that is why the trouble.
