No problems, cheap booze does encourage some bozoes, but that apart staff are friendly and ale is sooo cheap. Good as part of a pub crawl as my bladder cant handle the long walk to the toilets!

Went in this pub over christmas with friends from work, we work local so not too much of a walk and we had a great time, the cocktails 2-4-10 AMAZING, the staff were really nice as well, considering we only went in there for 1 or 2 drinks we ended up staying all night. (wife not happy) sorry spoons, you got the blame.

Visited Saturday afternoon, 14 Jan 12 as part of a CAMRA pub crawl of Fareham Town centre.

It's a Wetherspoon pub, so you get what you get from a Wetherspoon. The staff seemed friendly enough and the ale was competently kept, although the selection was a bit of a disappointment (I'm not sure whether the management have much choice over that). What they had, they kept well.

This is a big pub and was fairly busy on Saturday afternoon. It suffers, like many Wetherspoon pubs, from a lack of "pub feel" and I think might have the longest "walk to the loo" I've come across in quite a while.

If you're expecting a Wetherspoon experience, you'll not be disappointed. I you're expecting a pub, you will be.

Usual Wetherspoon menu and those that had a meal were served quickly enough.

Seems a decent place and the barmaid and customers at the bar were pleasant when we arrived as a group. Pub seems to be old, and has some nice nooks and corners with pleasant fittings. Just what you'd expect from a "proper pub". Good atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon and definately has a "local pub" feel. A short walk from the main town centre and close to a lot of shops.

They had Sharps Doom Bar and St Austell Tribute on sale this day, both of which seem popular in Fareham. I had a pint of Tribute and although I think I was unfortunate to get it slightly beyond its best, it was still quite drinkable and worthy of a 2 on the CAMRA Beerscoring scale (for those that aren't familiar with CAMRA scoring, this isn't a criticism of the overall quality of the ale they sell, just the single pint I had - "2" is an average score reflecting a "Competently kept drinkable pint but doesn't inspire in any way').

I didn't try the food. They sell a good range of normal pub food and at a decent price - 4.95 for things like pie and chips, fish and chips etc. They have a special of "Two for 8" which is very good value for South Hampshire.

I will go back here to sample the beer on another day as I get the feel that I was just unfortunate that the beer had gone past its best - hey, that happens. If I'm there at a lunch time I'll try the food. There're a few pubs in close proximity in Fareham and the Clinkers is fairly close to a large Wetherspoon, but seems to be holding well against that competition. The Clinkers is a proper pub and worthy of a visit.

Been using this pub since it opened. Great for real ales with friendly staff to serve you. Strict on IDs which can upset yougsters who arrive without any and can become abusive. I can only surmise that some pubs are not cheecking IDs.

Great place for meeting friends and is popular for family meals.

Nice friendly pub, good beer lots of choice and a real must for the real ale enthusisast. Like the pub because the management tolerate no trouble or rowdy behaviour therefore its a nice place to go for a quiet meal or drink. Its nice to go to a pub where you are made to feel welcome and you know there is going to be no trouble. Cannot speak too highly of the place

Not as good (beer or atmosphere) as the Crown, but not bad.
mtaylor40 - 19 Nov 2010 23:25
Gave this place another crack on Thur - no better, more like a beer hall than a pub, will stick to the Crown when in Fareham

All thu usual things you don't like about Weatherspoons, big and cavernous, impersonal (but not impolite) service and the things that you do, like price. But you know what you are getting and the beer is in my opinion the best kept in Fareham. Usually 10 hand pumps many with beer I have never drunk before. I like to try new beers and I have never been let down you have to give them 10/10 for the quality of the beer. In nearly two years I have queried the quality of just one pint and that was immeditely changed with a polite apology. In general the beer is never less than perfect.
Long may they prosper.

Sorry but my experience was also pretty vile. After waiting around 15/20 minutes to get served ALL the real ales in front of me were off. 5 pumps displying beer and none there...fantastic. Staff were too busy shipping out 99p bottles of Sam Miq and reloading shelves with crates of the stuff....

Horrible pub. Avoid at all costs.

keep up the good work wetherspoons, i think that you are great in every way. Good food, good ale and even better service. I like the fact that there is no music as i enjoy a good conversation, which is what it is all about. And if the other pubs are so much better then why is spoons the only pub that is busy during the week. Some pubs dont even open on a monday or a tuesday.

Well i happen to disagree with most of the comments. I drink in this pub often and i think it is one of the best pubs in fareham. you get served quickly and if people think their beer is so bad then why are they the only pub in fareham that is in the good beer guide, they always have at least 8 different ales on each day. And as for the staff they always make me feel welcome and have a friendly chat if they are not too busy. I have got i feeling that the people that are complaining about this pub are more than likely barred and they have no idear what a good pub should be like.

Having worked on the door in several Wetherspoons sites, I will stick up for the staff, who in my opinion do a great job for minimal reward. As Wetherspoon's don't play music, the time goes incredibly slowly, and the low-life clientele attracted the the cheap drinks hardly helps. The staff usually earn only around 5.50, and for that need a very long fuse to cope with some of the dubious characters attracted to this pub.

I thought Wetherspoons had a policy where they were encouraged to buy local produce especially real ales. The only local ale was Hampshire - what about Oakleaf, Bowman and all the local GOOD beer!!!
lucywright - 17 Jul 2007 13:39
When this pub opened it was really good. Cheap beer, cheap food, a nice place to be. Over the years with bad management the declining standard of food (aren't the chips awful)and poor service (where do the get them from!!!) this probably IS the worst pub in Fareham. However it is nice to sit out the back on a sunny day.
cazzaellen - 7 May 2007 15:34
Worst Wetherspoons I've been to, and, all in all, probably the worst pub in Fareham. Service incredibly poor, and the beer as bad as other people have said.
jonesey - 27 Mar 2007 00:11
The bloke who drove his car through it a few years ago did Wetherspoons a favour.

Still poor with the beer badly kept
Splodge68 - 14 Nov 2006 19:54
A very poor Wetherspoons effort, I'm afraid. Not much more to say really.
ye73812 - 18 Oct 2006 22:20
Weatherspoons rubbish
