Average pub. Often very busy 5-7 ish but otherwise fine all round. Tills regularly fail which can cause amusement. Have heard food is very slow at lunchtimes - 40 minutes for a sandwich!

One of the best beer gardens in London. Is over priced however nice decor inside with plenty of tables and sofas. Beer garden is large with plenty of seating. Nice clientele, beer range can be lacking however plenty of spirits if that is your thing. Haven't eaten there however heard food can be hit and miss.

Very good pub which is one of my regulars after work. Sam Smiths so not the widest range of drinks however ambiance makes up for that. One of the longest bars in London coupled with deep sofas and cubby holes made for spending hours drinking in. Always busy after work however you can normally find a seat down in the basement if needs be. Staff can be surly however that is not off putting. Oh, and it is old, very old!

The Avalon, Balham
Hard to say why I don't like this pub but if just feels a bit soulless. Caters very well to the young, well off crowd in the Balham area and always packed. I prefer to avoid though as better places in the area with a bit more character.
haven't eaten but food is supposed to be good.
