Not sure about this pub. One of our party commented that you could see a fight starting there later in the night. I could see his point. Most of the clientele were fairly young. Beers were Old Hooky, Old Peculier, Bombardier & London Pride. We sat outside in a reasonably large paved area at the back. Right next to the university.

A food-orientated Punch Taverns 'Local Pubs' outlet curiously located just inside the main entrance to the University of Southampton and looking rather out of place compared to the nearby high-tech buildings. Inside, it looks fairly traditional with quite a lot of wood around the small-ish bar and seating areas. Patio beer garden out back. Reasonable selection of real ales from the six handpumps, including Landlord, 6X, GK IPA and Spitfire (a reasonable pint, but oddly priced at 2.61).

Andy left, Bex left, and the new land lady is a disaster. The food is now served cold, and the wait for it is lengthy. The only redeeming feature is the Quiz on Thursdays that is one of the hardest and funniest I've come accross.

Andy's gone to the highfield and the vast majority of regulars have stayed. The atmosphere is friendlier than ever before, and the new landlady - Becky - is fantastic. There are now two plasma screens for you sports nuts, and its possible to hire the BBQ and garden for summer parties where the chef does all the work for you ( you just bring some food for him to cook!)

Quiz is returning in October, as will the crib league. There is also gonna be a ridiculously large selction of board games availiable

An agreeable place with plenty of tasty ales to keep you occupied. Wooden decor which I always welcome in a pub environment.
