i visited the Pie and Pint in Roxwell on thursday at 2:30pm, we walked in and waited at the door for 5 minutes for somebody to acknowledge us, this never happened so when we saw a vacant table we sat at it and hoped that someone may notice us!
after a few minutes and a glare from a member of staff we were still pretty much ignored, the waiting staff walked past us serveral times and not once made eye contact or said "i'll be with you in a moment", just left us too it.
10 minutes go by, we think about approaching the bar but there doesnt seem to be any staff around that area either!
so we sat and waited and when we were about to give up and leave a waitress finally gave us a menu.
We ordered a maincourse which came with a complimentary soup per person, sadly both soups were not hot, but as we were both starving we didnt want to wait for them to be warmed up, despite being luke warm the soup was very nice!
The main course arrived and was very tasty, neither of us could finish our meals as they were so huge.
we promptly paid and left.
i cant say that we will not return as the service was terrible, as someone that works in the service industry i am prepared to allow for the odd mis-hap but this was ridiculous!
Definately will not be coming back!

I've been to this new restaurant 3 times since it's reopened and found the service to have been excellent 2 out of 3, (not bad considering all new staff).
However my last visit last for Sunday roast which I have to say was really pretty poor. Cold plates so cold food. But the worst thing was that the quality was below standard and more bought in than home cooked. Sunday roast is the benchmark of a good restaurant and it's essential to get it right.

I came with a friend for a meal at the Hare this evening and have to say that in general its quite impressive, - although the table service we recieved left a lot to be desired. We sat near the bar front and were served by a rather snobby young lady, who genuinely seemed as though she didnt want to be there, and her attitude was unfriendly and almost standoffish. Aside from that, there were a lot of things she forgot, its called SERVICE for a reason!! The bread (which is actually a lovely touch) came out a while after our starters - this happened to another table near to us as well.
we had to ask for our cutlery to be replaced , twice, as she forgot. Our main course had been waiting in front of us for nearly 5 minutes. We generally felt as though she didnt care at all about our experience. We expected a lot better service as the place isnt cheap. Aside from the unfortunate table we were given, the hare is lovely.
We enjoyed the food, and the wine menu is varied, the rest of the staff seemed very happy even though they were much busyer, and the bar man was cheerful and helpful.
We will visit again, and tell our friends about the good food, but will warn them not to sit by the bar.

Recently visited The Hare and have to say I cant agree with the last review. I found the staff to be very pleasent and the service we received even though the pub was really busy was excellent. The food was lovely and it was nice to go to a pub that isnt like all the usual "chain" pubs. Having visited the pub prior to its revamp, it sorely needed the new life that has been put into it by its new owners. I personally will be recommending this pub to all the people I know - and have booked the family in for Christmas day!

Very disappointed with my visit. Food is okay but very overpriced. The service was awful and the staff were rude. A nice country pub sadly now spolit. A real shame.
