Absolutely love this pub. While all the other pubs in the area have become trendy and are full of hipsters this retains a sprinkle of the old traditional Bethnal Green and is a pleasure to visit.

Full of old school local people who don't mind new faces, fellas playing pool and friendly staff makes this a must visit if in the area. Very decent pint of Guinness too.

My first visit to this pub. This is a really good East End boozer with a single bar; pool table and TV screens. We found it warm and very cheery with a good atmosphere where different footie fans mixed well. They have a range of malt whiskys and do a regular Malt of The Month feature. The beer range was not over-exciting but the Timothy Taylor's Landlord was fine (they also had Doom Bar/GK IPA and GK Fireside)
although the bar counter is totally dominated by those huge ugly keg fonts. The pub is handy for Cambridge Heath station or buses into the city. No pretentions here - this is a beer and chat pub and we will be back.

Unpretentious friendly locals pub on the main road north from Bethnal Green towards Hackney.

It's an unremarkable pub in many respects. The single bar has a snooker table and is carpeted. The only real feature of note is a collection of framed signed football shirts covering past decades - eg Denis Law of Man Utd, Kenny Dalglish from Liverpool. There's also Spurs and Arsenal shirts. I can't say that I saw any Orient shirts, unlike the previous poster.

Here, last Saturday morning, in the company of half a dozen or so locals, I was able to catch up on the Test Match from Cardiff as Australia pushed on towards 600 runs. It was a pleasant friendly atmosphere, although the seemingly constant wailing sirens of passing police cars rushing by at great speed reminded you that you were in East London.

There's a small outside drinking area at the back - it's stretching one's imagination a bit to refer to it as a garden.

The pub is apparently quite well known locally for its Sunday evening jazz sessions.

On the beer front, there's 3 pumps - Greene King IPA and St Edmunds Ale being on offer on my Saturday visit. The third pump had a reversed Timmy Taylors Landlord pump clip. The Greene King IPA was on reasonable form at 2.55p.

The pub is situated in an area of East London that I would not classify as salubrious by any means - but I'd be happy to revisit this pub if I was ever in the area again

A decent pub that manages to be welcoming to all sections of Hackney life - from winkle picking trendies to East End barrow boys. Leyton Orient and Millwall shirts festoon the walls and the juke box is sufficiently packed with tunes. A good pint of Landlord on my visit too.

This is currently my favourite pub within walking distance of Broadway market. Broad range of customer, good and good beer.
Back in the late 90's some I enjoyed drinking in some of the better pubs in E8 if only for their diverse and sometimes quirky customer base. This situation has now changed and former favourites such as the Pub on the Park and the Dove (although the latter is still well run) are frequented by just one minority section of local society, comfortably off and fashionable white people who probably would have chosen to rent near Clapham common had they been born 7 years earlier.

In the sense that I have a local pub this is my local, and I'm very loyal to it. I don't go there every week so it's testament to how friendly and welcoming it is that I consider it a local. I've been drinking here for about 3 years and have always felt happy to be there. I've been drinking there less since I've given up smoking as it has such a great smoking garden which I remember very fondly, and timer heaters and even a telly in the outside for watching football. The landlord's great and will even put on first division football games. It has a really good pool table and a juke box, and does cash back at the bar. The people working and drinking there are really friendly. It gets super busy after Vyner Street openings.

Happened in here whilst killing time recently on a Saturday, and very glad I did - perfect place to make you feel at home when kicking your heels somewhere you dont know much. Football on telly, not too loud, good bunch of patrons, good bar service and a good flavour of the area. They obviously care - at the Hare.

Family-friendly. Recently refurbished and with two cask ales available: Timothy Taylor Landlord and Greene King IPA. Not too difficult to reach from Old Street or Bethnal Green by bus, and a friendly welcoming team of staff work the bar.

Although my first visit was Saturday (playing for a wedding) I could sense the spaciousness that has been generated by moving the bar several feet back from the front of the pub.

A good pub, well worth a visit.

Was in here last weekend, Beer was good and the bloke working the bar was friendly.... always a good start.

We got a table no problem, great pub to sit in, mellow with IPA and try and sort the worlds problems with your mates.

Nice friendly pub that seems ignored a bit. But ideal if you desire a quick drink and a seat and table

This is a real find this one, good ale on tap, pool table, lots of old street signage on the walls, a pleasant landlord and some comfy(ish) chesterfields. Plenty of local characters and a spot-on, cobbled alley location by the railwa lines. Don't be put off by the "Travellers by appointlent only" signs on the front door! This is exactly the kind of pub where everyone should drink!
