The Sir Tom Finney Pub, Penwortham

The Tom Finney used to be a popular place to be on a Friday or Saturday night and also used to offer an excellent menu with a good service and not too long of a wait, Unfortunately the chef's have come andgone and the food is definately not worth the wait, in some instances over an hour, and even with small numbers waiting for food the service should have been much quicker. There has been an introduction of some cask ales recently but I am sure that this may be down to a cost/profit basis rather than demand.
As for the pub itself the exterior is grubby with weeds growing through the pavements, the planted borders are littered with cigarette ends and glasses are invariably left outside overnight. Internally the last refurb was done years ago and it is very grubby, the bar area and top are disgusting and the gents toilets carry a distinctive Victorian odour matched by the cleanliness or rather lack of it. There was no adequate hand washing facilities which was worrying considering they serve food!!
Not a pleasurable experience and not recommended
