The Queens Hotel, Apperley Bridge

I took my mum for the Early Bird menu last night (25/3/09). At 6.30pm on a Weds there were a few others tables of diners in, and the pub was quiet (but not too quiet) & cosy & welcoming. We were given our drinks & menus straight away by the very polite waitress, who gave us just the right amount of time to decide before taking our order.
I thought the choice on the menu was great for just under a tenner for 2 courses. I went for the creamed mushrooms on garlic bread, followed by pork & leek sausages and mash - both of these were beautifully presented, very tasty, & you could tell the quality of the ingredients. My mum chose chicken liver pate with melba toast, then scampi & chips - she was very impressed with the pate in particular.
With a generous accompaniment of potatoes and veg (included in the price) we were absolutely stuffed, so although the desserts sounded amazing, we couldn't fit anything else in!
I would definitely go back there again for early deal as it is great value for money. The lights bites section also looked very tempting & reasonably priced (all around a fiver), so sounds great for lunch.
