The Hermits Cave, Camberwell

This is a pub-lovers' pub, arguably the best in Camberwell. Unpretentious, friendly staff, good mix of locals and art students makes for a friendly relaxed atmosphere, and there is a great range of beers and, particularly, traditional ciders. The selection changes every so often, with old favourites such as the Old Rosie remaining on tap.

O'Neills, Wimbledon

The big problem with this pub is the attitude of the bouncers and some of the bar staff. They will happily serve drinks five minutes before closing time, and then kick you out on to the street before customers have barely had time to have had more than a sip. This is not a responsible way to run a busy town centre pub.

Other than, it's no better than your average chain pub with the usual range of flat lagers, each with its own distinctive metallic tang. The live music is good though.
