Tucked away behind Sadlers Wells this is my favourite local. There's a cosy fire in the winter, great ales and the staff are always friendly. And they do cheese platters... I do love a good cheese platter...

The Sandpiper, Mudeford

A pub of two halves... to steal the old sporting cliche. The Sandpiper is a good value Greene King pub with friendly staff that's seen a real turnaround under the new managers. There seem to be more evening events (quiz night, rock'n'roll bingo) than previously. The sports bar is usually lively on match days, but luckily it's separated from the restaurant area. Meals are good value (whenever I have visited food's been available from 12 noon - 9 pm as advertised) and it's a short stroll to or from the seafront if you need to walk off your lunch.
