The Back of Beyond, Reading

A very agreeable public house where I went for a curry and a beer with some colleagues this evening. Some of the curries had sold out but the choice was still respectable and economical.

I went there in search of live music and beer to find an agreeable enough place, with competent enough security and decent enough beer. It was not too easy to find but the doorman kind of gave it's location away.

The Royal Oak, Tilehurst

I popped in one afternoon, while someone was being shown my flat, with a book to read. The only other punter was someone else reading a book with a pint as well so the place was quite bare and devoid of people.

People who seemed to be the staff were quite noisy and quarrelsome but they kept to themselves mainly and I got my reading, and my drinking done.
