Could be ok but beer is TERRIBLE!
Not just that but expensive and empty during the day. This probably has something to do with the landlord being unable to get out of bed in time for the advertised opening time.

Royal Union, Cheltenham

Used to be a good local until the publicity seeking new landlord appeared on the scene. Although he spouted off about how the area needed a good reliable read pub in the local rag he has got rid of the skittles and turned it into a steak house.
How is that traditional?
The ale and cider selection is good and he. should know as he samples enough of it throughout the day.
The landlord aside the food is supposed to be good with or without dog hair but you could go to a real eating house for food and a dedicated pub for a drink
