To the writer this is one of the 3 or 4 best pubs for real ale in a 15-mile radius. The landlord manages to pick and find beers you don't see elsewhere, almost always from microbrewers. The beer choice is balanced - there always is a darker or stronger beer in the constantly changing selection of four. Drinkers, regular and new will feel welcome in a quiet, special way. Homecooked food is served on some days.
