The Queens Head, East Clandon

I was in East Clandon, for a weekend last June ( 2010 ), from Northern Ireland, with my wife and two daughters, and not only had lunch at the Queens Head, but attended a convention barbeque on the Saturday night.

I cannot praise it enough, the pub itself, is set in a quintessential English village, in georgeous countryside. The ploughman's lunch, was one of the best I have ever tasted in my life, with an excellent choice of ales. The barman was very friendly, but cannot recall his name. Would thoroughly recommend this place, either for a pub lunch or couple of drinks. Best of British, and a 10 out of 10.

The only dampener on this fanrastic weekend, was England being dumped out of the World Cup, by arch rivals, Germany.

The Hole in the Wall, Torquay

I discovered The Hole In The Wall, Torquay, last summer ( 2008 ), whilst on holiday from Northern Ireland, with my wife and daughter.

What can I say, only that it was first class, from everything to choice of ales, food and staff. We discovered it by accident, it is located up a small side street, and dates circa 16th century. The prices are slightly higher than your average pub grub, but we were on holiday ( we actually spent four out of seven nights there ). A lovely French waitress named Nicole, took a shine to my young daughter, as they share the same name. It was very child - friendly.

Definately the Best Of British. 10 out of 10. Next time we are in Torquay. we will be back again. First class.
