The James Street Vaults, Plymouth

I co-ran this pub in 1988 for a year after my studies. Was owned by Plympton Breweries (Allied Dom) at the time so the beer was pretty naff. I still have great memories of some awesome drinking nights and the party nights we sued to throw. Have been back a few times since and although it has seen some cosmetic changes it still has the same atmosphere. Great alternative to the union bar as it's within crawling distance for most of the HOR. They used to store dead bodies on rails in the cellar during the Blitz, the holes in the wall are still there on the left above the barrel racks.

The Portcullis Inn, Tormarton

"You wouldn't find it unless you knew where it was type" of pub. An old pub with a quirky atmosphere but great food. Beer is kept well and the landlord has a very dry sense of humour. Personally love it for it's food.
