The Old Bank of England, Fleet Street

Excellent pub - a real classic. Spent whole evening there recently and staff remained friendly all the time despite party being a bit loud. London Pride excellent - food OK. Definately somewhere to impress your out of town visitors.

The Captain Kidd, Wapping

Very disappointing! Despite nice ambiance and excellent riverside location, food my party had on Sunday 15th May was awful. It was Onion Soup that tasted as if it was from a packet with lump of completely undigestible cheese in it, badly cooked Roast Beef like leather, Raspberry Creme Brulee like the egg custard my mother cooked in the '50s (and she was no cook!) The main course was served luke warm as if it had been hanging around since breakfast. And it was expensive even for this area of London. It was exactly the sort of meal that gives English food a bad name. Only saving grace was pleasant waitresses.
