The Black Horse, Binsted

We stopped for Sunday lunch after getting off the A27 on the way to Chichester. The outside of the pub isn't very promising and we struggled to park - we expected the pub to be full of people but we discovered later it was mostly staff cars. We should have been warned off by an empty country pub on a Sunday lunchtime.

The setting is very nice, views over the golf course and a very nice garden, but the food wasn't great and very expensive for what we got.

We both had haddock chowder, which was flavoured with vinegar - a very odd flavour. The home made bread rolls were dry and burnt and the coffee was awful. We paid 36 for this plus a water and a pint of London Pride which was poor value.

Best to avoid.
