The Red Lion, Northend

Not my choice for a pub, you never know if it's going to be open or not for one reason or the other. It's one of those places where the locals all stop talking as you walk in the door!

If it is open then food might be on or off, you just don't know. If you are local and in the "know" then give it a try but if it's your first visit then don't bother.

The Gaydon Inn, Gaydon

A lovely "local" pub which serves good beer, superb food and has a very welcoming atmosphere. Two bars (take the right hand side one) and a warm real fire in winter with a lovely garden for the summer. They specialise in fish food dishes but the menu is by no means restricted to this.
Try one of their starters (enough for two if having a main meal as well), they are delicious! The Sunday roast is good as well, 10 of us are going there this weekend.
