The Canton Arms, South Lambeth

I had heard some great reports of this place but the result was a huge disappointment.

We visited on the day the Ashes was rained off at the Oval and this obviously meant there was more custom than they anticipated. However -
- the forecast for rain had been clear 5 days beforehand. Plenty of time to get more staff in.
- The few staff they had were brusque and rude. Worst of all was the lady we took to be the owner
- Approx one third of items on the menu were not available
- At 5pm we were asked to move , despite the fact that we had and were spending a good amount of money with them. We were told they needed to set up for dinner. Apparently first booking was for 7pm - two whole hours later
- When we reasonably made out various concerns clear to the staff, they made it very obvious they had no interest in our opinions.

I will never go back and I would urge anyone in pursuit of good food and polite staff, to do the same.
