The Compasses at Pattiswick, Pattiswick

I have been to this pub three times, twice for food. Excellent!!

The staff are very friendly and polite, you can sit and have a drink at the bar and they will call you to your table when the food is ready.

They have Woodford Wherry on the pumps, you have to try it! Light and refreshing on a summers day. Good wine selection at reasonable prices.

Inside you have three areas; the bar (rustic with nooks and cranys), the restaurant (light, spacious, good sized tables) and a little deli/bar area where you can buy deli type items (havn't looked at it closely).

The food is tasty. There are not many places you can go to and say "oh, that looks interesting, I haven't see it on a menu before"

Lots of space outside to sit and contemplate the flat Essex country side.

NB: One of the other reviews said the beer was sour�.if you think it doesn�t taste good take it back! Remember there is an art to keeping proper beer unlike larger! All my pints have been top quality.
