The GlassHouse, New Malden

I offered a review of this pub about a year back when my partner and I visited for the first time and I can only say that the place is just as good if not better than it was.

We had a great time at the wine dinner a couple of nights back and we were very pleasantly surprised that more events like this are planned for the future.

The atmosphere in general is still great, the food is wonderful and they have even added some new dishes which I have sadly not had the opportunity to try as yet but I certainly plan to.

My partner and I have now made it our regular meeting place after work and still think that the service we get is better than anywhere else. I have recommended it to friends already and we have planned to have my brothers 40th dinner there.

In all honesty prices are on par with London but if we get to enjoy ourselves without some of the low-lifes around then it certainly is worth it plus we can save on travel costs.

It is still the best pub in the area by far and I could not recommend it more to anyone looking for a nice night out.

On a more personal note, I think that ilovegoingtothepubs comments are totally unacceptable.

Naming people on a public website is not appropriate at all and I feel that this comment should be removed and I hope that the management of the pub and this website have taken steps to do so.

These people have jobs to do just like you or I and I certainly would want to be named in this fashion. I think perhaps you have a personal issue and have chosen to voice this in a rather cowardly fashion I doubt that this website has been set up to voice your personal dislike of particular people.

However, judging by your other comments I would say that you sound like the type that the place is better off without.

The GlassHouse, New Malden

My partner & I visited this pub last week and we were very presently suprised!

Firstly, because unlike some other "establishments" in New Malden this place did not have its area out the front plastered with cigarettes ends and secondly it did not reek of another "Weatherspoons type clone" plus it has a carpark with plenty of spaces. A big positive!!

I had been told some time ago this pub had a very nasty history but in the last year or so had been turned around and I can only say this must be true.

A very welcoming atmosphere and a comfortable layout inside. I could not see any of the pool tables or drunken nutters that I had been warned about.

We were served by a very freindly young woman who offered us a rather large wine list. The problem here was definately choice, but great if you really enjoy your wine like we do!! Appeared to have good selection of ales as well as some familiar largers on tap.

The Dining area was really well set out and very inviting. Meals were simply excellent (the best piece of fish I have had in a while) and beautifully presented. It was nice to go into a place like this and receive friendly, dedicated table service.

Garden area looks like it would be great during the day while the sun was shining & advertising mentions BBQs on weekends.

We were told that live music was stopped some time ago but was now making a come back by way of a jazz pianist and some other local performers. Ther was no live music when we visited but might have to see what is on offer later on.

Toilets were in a top notch state, another nice surprise and a first I think for many pubs in New Malden, even the mens was clean and tidy. We have been in some really nice pubs/restaurants before that look great in all other respects only to be greeted with a bomb site of a toilet area.

Prices were a little high, more central London like, but we wouldn't say over priced because if you are willing to pay a little more you certainly get a much nicer environment as a result.

We will definately be bring our friends there when they come over from Irealand next month.
