The Old House At Home, Dorking

I pop in here from time to time at lunch if I want a change of scene. I wouldn't make this a regular haunt, but the beer is quite nicely kept, and as mentioned: the roast beef sandwiches are excellent!

I can't really comment on the rest of the menu, but the staff are usually quite friendly and happy to help which is always a good thing.

The Pilgrim, Dorking

This pub is generally a good bet. The beer on tap is usually good, and when I went recently they were serving Dorking Brewery DB1 for a pound a pint. You can't go wrong there! They usually have something on from the Ringwood Brewery too, so I'm usually quite happy on that front.

I can't comment on the food at large, but I can vouch for the steak and ale pie, which is consistently excellent. The staff seem nice enough, and the atmosphere is usually good, albeit a little 'local' at times.

It's a bit more of a walk from the town than the other pubs in Dorking, but I would say it is well worth the extra leg work!

The Kings Arms, Dorking

I've been drinking and eating in the Kings Arms for about five years now. They usually server good food, and they usually have a great selection of real ales on tap.

That all said, the service in this pub is generally really dreadful. Some of the staff are pleasant enough, but unfortunately these aren't the staff that work there regularly. I've seen staff come and go from this pub, and the general lack of interest in service seems to be a baton passed from one bar person to the next, so maybe this is a case of sick building syndrome?

Whatever the cause, the result is a real shame. This could easily be the best pub in Dorking if only the staff could be bothered.
