Although the wonderful Market Porter next door does leave the Wheatsheaf in the shade in terms of atmosphere, friendliness and popularity, the quality of the beer at the Wheatsheaf is, I think, slightly better...

The Roebuck, Borough

Top pub. Always a fun atmosphere all nights of the week (probably due to proximity to various student halls...), great quiz (though I think it's not on during the summer), good choice of beers/wine and pretty good food. Nice decor too.

Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
