The Robin Hood, Standford

I understand this pub is under new management now. The food was horrible. It actually made me feel ill I'm afraid. The starter was nice and seemed fresh (breaded mushrooms) but the main courses were terrible. My main was lasagna which despite telling the barlady more than once didn't come with any chips. It appeared to have been taken from a larger precooked lasagna (probably frozen) sprinkled with some cheese and then microwaved. This had the effect of a greasy topping and tough bits of pasta on the sides. My companion had fish in batter (which they also suspect may have seen a microwave to reheat it) with baked potato which was definitely reheated. The other person I was with had the cajun chicken which was ok but accompanied with a huge pile of strange fried overly spicy vegetables. I realise many pubs also microwave food for speed but they manage to still make the food appetising. To be fair, we visited on a day when they are doing a 2 meals for a fiver OAP offer (which we didn't have) so were deluged by a big party of OAPS so I wonder if they drop the standards as a result perhaps. In a nutshell though, not fresh, not nice and not recommended.

The Inn on The Green, Shottermill

Dont go this pub expecting a varied selection of beer, its whatever they can afford to put on. Either Fosters, Carlsberg, Stella or Best. Its a boozer and thats it.

The Royal Oak, Haslemere

A really good pub. Good pint of Pride, a friendly landlord, and excellent food (homecooked and big portions). I cant fault this pub.
