The Wykeham Arms, Winchester

Unique pub between the Cathedral and WInchester College. A wide mix of patrons, including some fairly eccentic ones! Interior well worth a look at - lots of memorabilia on the walls and hanging from the ceiling, and old school desks to sit at. Beers are Fullers/Gales. Bit pricey, but in good condition. Also you'd have to go a long way to find pub toilets as plush as the ones here (hand moisteriser in the gents!)

Downsides are the prices, and the fact that it has an emphasis on seated dining, which can make finding somewhere to sit if you just want a drink difficult.

The Wagon Works, Eastleigh

Standard Weatherspoons, really. Handy for Eastleigh train station, or for some respite from shopping in Eastleigh. As a relatively new opening, the interior hasn't had time to get scruffy. Overall, a decent town-centre pub, at least during the day.

Cricketers, Eastleigh

This pub has been known to my family for years. It's been through some ups and downs, but is currently most definitely on an up. A well-kept, if mostly unchanging, range of beers, mostly from the Greene King stable, but also normally Ringwood Best. Friendly, hard-working landlord and staff. Food normally looks decent, if unspectacular, although I haven't eaten there for a while. A wide range of events as well, including a weekly pub quiz and two beer festivals at Easter and over the August bank holiday. It's a big pub, so at off-peak times, you might find yourself rattling around, and the atmosphere might seem a bit dead as a result, but I'd definitely recommend it!
