The Rose and Crown, Cuckfield

We had a very enjoyable midweek lunch at this pub. The food is locally resourced and freshly cooked, and it was all delicious. We had one of the specials for the day � a Steak and Kidney pie - the meat was tender and tasty, and it was served with a truly �winy� wine gravy. It was lovely! The portions were generous, and though after eating it we really did not need any more, we decided to sample the treacle pudding. This can so often be a bit stodgy � but no, not the ones made here! They were daintily served (and it is not easy to make a sponge pudding look dainty!), full of syrup and very more-ish. They obviously have a very good chef.
The staff were all polite and very helpful. We shall definitely return to this pub and will recommend it to our friends.
