The Speaker, Westminster

I must admit that the sudden departure of David, the long standing (and smoking and drinking!) barman has come as bit of a shock to all of the regulars. The resons for his departure do seem to be unclear at the moment. (I do hope that Class52 (below) is wrong, and that the parting of the ways was amicably, and correctly, handled).

For all of his, sometimes, absent-mindedness David is a nice fellow - always friendly and helpful, and, from the customer pov, efficient He will be sore missed by his many friends in the pub and hopefully he will soon be "behind the ramp" in equally pleasant PH surroundings.

Joiners Arms, Gower

Very good boozer and the 3 SBC beers that I tried were all excellent.- particularly the "Three Cliffs". Food was also of a very good standard, and loads of it.

Just one gripe, also. I also tried a pint of Breconshire Gower's Well which was, in my view, "not ready" (a subjective thing I know) but when I tried to draw this to the attention of the barman he batted me away with a "it's fresh on!".

Given it a 7 but without the little misunderstanding would have probably marked it 9 - would hope to return when next in the area

The Speaker, Westminster

As a regular in the Speaker I feel that I must take issue with Robin53 below.

The landlord is in fact one of the most friendly and outgoing I have encountered in 35 years of pubbing.

Wth regards the incident referred to (and I was present at the time): the disabled customer in question is patially sighted and as they were leaving the landlord, very kindly in my view, went to move an item of stray furniture from impeding her progress. There was certainly no attempt either deliberate, or accidental to knock her over and I think Dennis is slightly upset at this reference.

As Robin53 was also present, and seems from postings here to be at least a semi regular, perhaps we can discuss this further over a friendly pint or two - they will obviously know me
